DO YOU NEED AN ALARM PERMIT?

DO YOU NEED AN ALARM PERMIT?

Security Alarm permits or registrations with the police are required in many communities around our metro area.  Some police departments refuse to respond to an alarm call if a permit is not on file.  It is up to the customer to complete the permit, pay any required fees, and renew it if required.

KCMO PD has contracted with an outside company to manage their alarm permits. In 2024 they began sending out permit renewal bills. We’ve had a lot of questions about these. If you want police response to your alarm in KCMO you should make sure you have a valid permit. If you don’t and your alarm generates a police dispatch, they may fine you for not having a valid permit or they may refuse to respond.

To help prevent false alarms, you can make changes to your call list and procedure by contacting our office at 816-436-3000. If you have any false alarms due to equipment problems schedule a service call to fix it— remember, Rampart doesn’t charge for labor for security alarm maintenance issues during regular business hours for our monitored customers.
